I grew up with a hobbyist photographer father who was never without his camera, and don't remember film canisters or the rush of running to retrieve prints from the drug store not being part of my everyday. A writer first, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from UC Santa Cruz in 2000, then moved on to study photojournalism as a graduate student at the University of Montana School of Journalism from 2000-2002.
The mother of a teenager and a preschooler and stepmother of a 'tween, I am drawn to the beauty and uninhibitedness of people experiencing the natural world. I specialize in on-location, natural light lifestyle photography with a focus on children, families, and children’s fashion. My images are natural, un-staged and evocative of real life. I also enjoy landscape photography.
I live in Santa Barbara, California, serving local communities and maintaining domestic and international clients and relationships in regard to my commercial work. I offer travel sessions regularly and am available for commissioned shoots worldwide. Last year, I was included on an international list of the top “100 Photographers to Watch in 2015,” by Clickin Moms, a community of more than 16,000 professional and aspiring female photographers.
My commercial client list includes GapKids and Stride Rite. My work has been published in Huffpost Style, local newspapers and magazines, and numerous children’s and photography publications and blogs.
