Michael Hence

Creative Statement

My name is Mike Hence and I am a Southern California native. Specifically San Pedro California. I did the norm growing up like skateboard, school, friends and so on. I have had this feeling for my whole life deep down in my gut that I was meant to do something big. Something that would change lives for the better. I just didn’t know what that was just yet.

When I was 18 I decided it was time to do something worth while so I joined the US Navy. I have been in since January 7th, 2004. I have completed 6 deployments in 7 years including Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, A small Europeon deployment, Continueing Promise 09, The Haiti earth quake relief 2010, and another in Bagram Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 2011.

I have been fortunate enough to travel the world and get exposure to different cultures. It has been a great trip.

My job has been as a Machinist Mate, with a specialty in cryogenics. Basically I make liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen for distribution using fractional distillation.
