Case Study: Google

Introduction

Google is a technology company that specializes in Internet-related services and products. Their content studio department needed to scale location based content and were on a budget to get it done. They had 2 projects that they needed photos for - one revolving around capturing neighborhoods in select cities and one revolving around stand alone images of points of interest around the globe.

Challenge

Google had 430 neighborhoods spanning 17 cities in 10 countries around the world. They needed shots of each neighborhood that depicted the uniqueness and culture each neighborhood. Google photo editors provided 3 photo recommendations per neighborhood but wanted photographers to submit photos of their own interpretation of the neighborhood as well. It was important that photographers capture the true authenticity of an area and not something that felt staged.

Solution

Working with Google's needs and under their budget, Snapwire recruited 24 photographers total (at least 1 in each city) to participate. Each neighborhood within each city was launched as its own private request assigned to the corresponding photographer. The requests were launched as a Pay-per-Shoot request where Google was able to download all photos submitted for one set price - making it scalable and affordable. Ultimately Google ended up with thousands of photos that accurately portrayed each unique setting.
