Big Sky: The best photo will be awarded $250. In addition, I'll be choosing the most creative shots for the Snapwire Premium Collection to be sold to pro art buyers.
Negative space is a great tool for highlighting a subject in any photograph. Sometimes the negative space can be equally as interesting as well. The sky above us all is a great example of something that can really make an impact on a photo. Using a big sky, with interesting clouds, flying objects to really show the scale and size of our world has always been something I love to integrate into my photography. I look for great clouds, birds in flight, and gorgeous sunset gradients in the sky to give my foregrounds in my landscapes even more character. I try to give the sky at least 2/3rds of the frame and the foreground the rest of the third. For more extreme impact, go even smaller by giving the foreground 1/9th or less of the photo. Use apps like AverageNite Cam with your iPhone on a tripod for added effect of shooting long exposure shots to get some great movement in the clouds.
